In 2008 I was working for exhibition design agency Event. My main project was a Heritage Centre for the Little Company of Mary, a Catholic Order. Not Catholic myself, I still found the story of their founder inspiring – Mary Potter battled social expectations to set up an Order dedicated to caring and praying for the dying in body and spirit. Death is not something we explore often and the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary see it as a great privilege to be with someone in their last moments.
The motto, which is Mary Potter’s words adjusted for my own religious viewpoint, reads: Every person is uniquely gifted, and called to exercise the spirit of leadership these gifts suggest.
